The Caribbean American Cultural Caucus Inc is a not-for-profit organization committed to the development of the entertainment industry across the Caribbean region and the Caribbean Diaspora.
Caribbean music is among the best known aspects of Caribbean culture. The music has achieved worldwide recognition and over the past 40 years, Reggae artists and Calyposians alike have performed in major cities on every continent. Steel orchestras (Steelbands) have been established in cities in Japan, Sweden, Africa, South America, Canada, and the USA. Performers from Africa, Europe, Latin America, and North America participate in the annual Creole Festival held in Dominica annually, and yet, Caribbean music has experienced diminutive commercial success in the international market.
Given the dynamism of the music, we are confident that increased knowledge of the “inner - workings” of the international entertainment industry, coupled with a goals-driven review of ways of “doing things” can contribute immensely to heightened success in the future. In 2009, CACC Board came together to organize the inaugural Caribbean Cultural Conference, at the Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York during Caribbean Heritage Month (June). This was the organization’s first step towards its goal of hosting a high quality event that would bring music industry stakeholders together to discuss issues and explore developmental strategies.
OUR OBJECTIVES
- Collaborate with global entertainment industry experts who share our mission
- To host workshops as well as an annual entertainment conference that will educate and raise awareness about topical structural development issues in the Caribbean region and the Caribbean Diaspora,
- Produce high quality music lifestyle tours, concerts and festivals that will highlight and promote Caribbean culture
